Bridget L.
Lab Director / Toxicologist
Bridget is a forensic toxicologist with more than 30 years of experience in toxicology and pharmacology. Her professional experience also includes testifying in court as an expert witness and supporting laboratory testing with Kentucky State Police and the South Bend Medical Foundation.
Bridget is a pioneer in the development of oral fluid testing techniques in the United States. In 2001, she worked for one of the first oral fluid drug testing labs, developing LC/MS/MS methods for oral fluid. Since then, she has developed an extensive drug list on the LC/MS/MS. Bridget launched Forensic Fluids Laboratories in 2005, and the company has enjoyed steady growth since, winning numerous awards for outstanding performance and customer service
David B.
Chief Operating Officer
Dave has been with Forensic Fluids Laboratories since 2016. He has over 35 years of management experience, including sales, operations, customer service, IT, product management, and fiscal discipline. Dave is a graduate of DePauw University with a Bachelor of Arts in Economics. His career has allowed him to live in Illinois, Indiana, Ohio, and Michigan. Dave enjoys being active with family, traveling, and spending time outdoors.
Heidi T.
Director of Sales and Customer Support
Heidi has been with the company since 2012 and has more than 20 years of experience with customer service and sales. Heidi is a graduate of Grand Valley State University where she received her Bachelor of Science in Criminal Justice. She has been highly praised by customers throughout her tenure at FFL for her problem-solving skills and engaging communication style. Heidi is from Saline, Michigan, near Ann Arbor.
Phil S.
Director of IT/Legal/Data Entry/Specimen Processing
Phil has more than 23 years of experience in Systems Administration and Networks. His IT background includes network administration, disaster recovery, project management, data security, IT management, and leadership. Phil is a graduate of Western Michigan University with a Bachelor of Science in Computer Science. He has lived in Michigan most of his life.
Blake C.
Director of Laboratory Administration
Blake joined Forensic Fluids Laboratories in June 2023. He is a graduate of Michigan State University where he earned a bachelor’s degree in medical technology. He has over 32 years of laboratory management experience and knowledge. Blake hopes to benefit the company with his extensive understanding of quality assurance, process improvement, CLIA, and regulatory compliance. Blake grew up in Coloma, Michigan, but has lived and worked in both Florida and Washington State. He is an avid outdoors sports enthusiast and enjoys traveling and spending time in the woods or on the water.
Joe D.
Confirmation Lab Lead
Joe is a graduate of Western Michigan University with a Bachelor of Science in Biomedical Science and Chemistry. He is a Medical Technologist with more than 18 years of experience in laboratory testing. His laboratory background includes pre-clinical research, clinical oncology and hematology, toxicology, process coordination, project leadership, general and technical supervision, production management, and laboratory management. Additionally, he brings to Forensic Fluids Laboratories extensive experience in laboratory accreditation and certification through CLIA, COLA, and CAP. He has lived in Michigan most of his life. His family enjoys the Michigan summers by taking weekend camping and fishing trips.
Kyler H.
Controller
Kyler joined Forensic Fluids Laboratories in 2022. She is a graduate of Eastern Michigan University with a master’s degree in accounting and has eight years of accounting experience. Specifically, her background includes a mix of public accounting and accounting management for small businesses. Kyler is passionate about improving FFL's accounting operations through supporting her accounting team members. Originally from Spring Arbor, Kyler has lived in Michigan all her life and currently resides in the Kalamazoo area. She enjoys dance and outdoor activities, including camping, hiking, and cycling.
Nic G.
Data Entry/Specimen Processing/Shipping Lead
Nic hails from the east side of Michigan and came to Kalamazoo to attend Western Michigan University. He graduated with a BA in Communications and is currently finishing his master’s degree in business administration. In his free time, Nic enjoys spending time with his spouse, dogs, friends, and family. His favorite season is summer, as he enjoys boating at the lake and spending time with friends by the pool. His favorite hobbies are visiting museums, cooking for his loved ones, playing with his dogs, and working out.
Matt L.
Forensic Toxicologist, Certifying and Research Scientist
Matthew is a board-certified forensic toxicologist with the American Board of Forensic Toxicologists. He holds a master’s degree in forensic science with a concentration in forensic toxicology from The George Washington University and is currently working towards a PhD at Western Michigan University and the Homer Stryker M.D. School of Medicine. Prior to joining Forensic Fluids Laboratories, Matthew worked at the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner in Washington, DC. His professional interests and strengths focus on cases of DUI (driving under the influence), DFC (drug facilitated crime), and death. Outside of work and school, Matthew enjoys every opportunity to spend free time with his spouse and son. They love to visit farmers markets, engage in outdoor recreational activities, and travel.
Troy D.
Certifying Scientist
Troy is a graduate of Western Michigan University with a bachelor's degree in biochemistry and biomedical science and a master's degree in chemistry. He is certified as a toxicological technologist by the National Registry of Certifying Chemists (NRCC). He joined Forensic Fluids Laboratories in 2020 as a Certifying Scientist and is part of the LC/MS/MS confirmation laboratory team. Troy was born and raised in Michigan and currently lives in Grand Rapids. Outside of work, Troy enjoys spending time with his wife and family, traveling, hiking, playing card and board games, and homebrewing beer.
Pete R.
Certifying Scientist
Pete is a Certifying Scientist with over 25 years of Laboratory experience and is one of four expert witnesses who provide testimony at Forensic Fluids. Pete has experience working in Toxicology, Nuclear Chemistry, Biotech, Chemical Processing, and is also experienced in medical, manufacturing, and production laboratories. He is a certified CLSR for the Aerospace Industry, Published scientist, ASTM Member, and a member of MATT and ACS. He holds a bachelor’s in psychology with a minor in Biology from Wheaton College in Norton, MA, and has also studied at Harvard and Tufts University. While he grew up in Dallas, TX, he was born in Shreveport, LA. Pete is an avid fisherman and hunter and can often be found outdoors in his spare time spending time with his fiancé and his dogs.
Brandi A.
Screening Laboratory Lead
Brandi has worked with Forensic Fluids Laboratories since 2016. She has extensive training and knowledge in both the screening and confirmation laboratories, and prides herself in being organized and efficient. After earning a B.S. in Forensic Biology from Ferris State University, Brandi acquired 7 total years of experience in high-throughput labs. Originally from Climax, Michigan, she has lived in the Kalamazoo area since joining FFL. Brandi is enthusiastic about fitness and stays active by running and participating in CrossFit.
